The price cuts were always part of a long-term strategy, so the latest price cuts at ASDA may be a reflection of the overall strategy leading up to Christmas, but they may also indicate that the existing cuts are not generating the volume traction that was hoped for. On the next ASDA quarterly call (estimated for mid-November), we expect management to be asked questions on progress.
