Iceland - comment

Rumours that Iceland would acquire 100% of Poundland always sounded fanciful, and the latest City AM article points to a more realistic avenue. Iceland will always want additional stores, but buying Poundland outright would be a very different proposition, given the scale of the estate and its broader general merchandise business. Iceland is therefore unlikely to be a buyer for the whole business, but could be interested in selected locations if a break-up becomes necessary. Interest from other retailers also highlights continued demand for attractive retail space.
