Deutsche Bahn’s CEO Lutz has lost his job over the €700m H125 losses at the German train operator. While Deutsche Bahn is state owned, use of the rail network, which is owned and operated by a subsidiary, DB Netz AG, is open to competition, such as Mobico’s National Express Germany. The nationwide attention on the state of German rail service levels and timetables should also benefit Mobico. The government is looking for a deep reset of the company and its sector.
