Telefonica views the UK as one of its four key markets and intends to continue consolidating the Alt-net broadband providers. In the long term, this suggests a potential bid by Telefónica for VMED, in the event that Liberty Global seeks an exit. Telefonica has already blocked a bid to split the network from the customers. However, nothing is imminent.
