Boparan - comment
The news that 2 Sisters has passed £70m of additional tax and wage costs to supermarkets will be supportive of the SSNs, but the longer-term implications concern us. In the past, Boparan’s EBITDA was significantly impacted by delays in the pass-through of feed costs. With supermarkets under pricing pressure, there may be some pushback for Boparan. Also, the Meals and Bakery business has already struggled to pass on higher costs. Ranjit is no stranger to being public about costs; he was successful in getting proper fee-cost ratchets after calling out the supermarkets.
