Casino - comment

Having followed Casino for an extended period, we monitor the ongoing developments from afar. The latest is that Jean-Charles Naouri has been found guilty of corruption and the dissemination of false or misleading information, and has been sentenced to four years’ imprisonment. In practice, jail time is unlikely, as three years are suspended, with the remaining year to be served under house arrest.

Casino itself was fined €40m for corruption-related offences, of which €20m was suspended. Although Naouri stepped down from the business in 2024, his legacy and influence continue to weigh on the company.
