Synthomer - comment - 26Q3

Synthomer’s reaffirmed FY26 outlook does little to change our view of the SUNs. Q3 brought further volume, revenue and EBITDA growth, as product innovation, expansion in the US and China, and cost efficiencies supported trading. However, the Gulf conflict continues to flatten performance through elevated raw material costs and supply-chain disruption, and Synthomer has yet to demonstrate that it can sustain stronger margins once these benefits fade. Management expects positive free cash flow before receivables financing movements and covenant leverage of 4.0–4.35x by year-end, excluding further disposals. The Czech acrylate monomers sale advances the portfolio restructuring, but Synthomer still needs further disposals to reduce debt ahead of the 2029 maturities. Ultimately, management must show that it can lift margins towards speciality-chemical levels and generate sustainable cash flow before refinancing pressure builds, rather than rely on temporary trading benefits and asset sales.
